Covid Chronicles: 1 Year Reflection

Here we are, March 2021. If you would have told me this time last year that the studio would be closed for essentially a full year I would have never believed it, and probably packed up my bags and cut my losses. I guess that is the beauty of not knowing what the future holds and being able to wake up each day to new experiences, fresh eyes and the will to keep moving forward. Day by day, minute by minute, staying as present as possible.

“…day by day, minute by minute, staying as present as possible. ”

As I write this post and reflect on this time, the word “duality” is the first thing that comes to mind. I realize I live in a completely different reality than where I was exactly one year ago, in that I have moved into a new home, have a completely different social and travel calendar, and the operation of my business is drastically different than it used to be. Simultaneously, I feel like nothing has changed and that we have been in a holding pattern for the last year. I would imagine this duality resonates with many of you. Nothing and all – that’s where I am at with it.

We are though, finally feeling a bright light at the end of a very long tunnel. With Spring fresh in the air, the timing feels right to be moving forward, reopening, and realigning with a different “normal.” If this past year has taught me anything, it is that community is key. The Move With Studio Community; clients, colleagues and staff, have truly kept this train on the tracks and in a forward progression. So much gratitude goes out to those who have bought a pack while we were closed, joined our online community, or shared information about the studio and our offerings to friends and family.

“Being able to connect with my body, my breath, and just move over the past year has been integral in keeping me sane.”

Lastly, and what is the foundation of it all, is this movement practice. Being able to connect with my body, my breath, and just move over the past year has been integral in keeping me sane. I am so thankful my body has been able to carry me through these stressful times where I have needed to put my nose to the grindstone, as well as the physical and intuitive cues it gives me when it is time to shut it down and rest. This year I have really honed in on this connection and am forever grateful.
